Leash Behavior Specialist
”Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." ~Mahatma Ghandi
Every dog owner wants a harmonious relationship with their dog. There is no better feeling in the world than walking with a dog who walks nice on leash and pays attention to you. Taking a walk with a dog that is well-mannered on leash is a peaceful and lovely experience.
Unfortunately, when many dog owners go for a walk, they experience many difficulties that interfere with the kind of loving, enjoyable experience they hoped walking with their dog would bring.
Dogs by Linda is ready to help you create the harmonious relationship that every owner should have with their dog. We use force free, reward based, and dog-friendly behavior modification techniques to help your dog behave more appropriately.
We understand that many of our clients have busy schedules and do not want to become dog trainers, so we designed programs where a knowledgeable and experienced trainer does the work for you. At Dogs by Linda we aim to make your life easier by working with your dog first.
Simply give us the leash and we will work with your dog to help resolve the issues and provide you with all the information and training you need including:
- Leash Handling: proper leash handling is an essential skill for all dog owners. Once we have worked with your pet, we will give you an understanding in this necessary skill.
- A better understanding of the language of dogs: Dogs communicate using a complex language of body signals that reflect what they are thinking and feeling. They use these signals consciously and unconsciously to communicate intent and to add to their feelings of personal safety by affecting behavior in others. Knowing how your dog communicates and how to reciprocate are essential to a harmonious relationship.
- Proper use of food and other rewards: In reward-based training the timing and skillful use of food delivery is critical. It’s how we teach dogs to perform behaviors like walking nice on a leash and how we desensitize them to fears and phobias that have cause them to become reactive.
- How to maintain and improve the results of training: Reward based training doesn't just keep working on its own. We will show you the steps to continue the training we have jump-started for your dog.
“People should learn how to be a skilled, generous, & creative ‘feeder.’ That is, they should understand and embrace the fact that their main role, if they want to be a great trainer, is to reinforce repeatedly any dog behaviors they want to see more of.” – Kathy Sdao

Dog Walking Services
"Linda gave us a lot of useful information about how to handle our dog's barking. She was extremely personable and her enthusiasm about working with the dog was more than we had hoped for. Her knowledge of dog behavior was impressive."
"When we rescued our little dog, Zizzy, last summer, we had Linda meet us at the house to help us integrate her into the household. Linda was instrumental in showing us how to train Zizzy and give her the boundaries and the consistency that she so desperately needed as a 3 year old rescue that had recently had puppies.
Linda came back several times to help us train our pup and Zizzy has been such a happy and well-adjusted dog every since! Linda also provided us with a lot of material to read and watch that was indispensable.
We are deeply grateful to Linda for taking the time and care to show us the way as first-time rescue dog owners. Linda is extremely knowledgeable and patient. Thank you, Linda, we couldn't have done it without you!"

Principles of Positive Reward-Based Training:
Training should be an enjoyable experience for both you and your dog. The more you understand about how your dog thinks and learns, the more effectively you can communicate. Clear communication means successful training and good behavior.
Our Process: What You Can Expect
When you contact us, we will send you a short intake form to understand your dog and the undesirable behaviors you are experiencing. Based on the intake form and a follow up conversation, we will develop an individualized training plan to address these behaviors.
Most issues such as pulling, barking and so forth are correctable by us in our standard six (6) session package. While some behaviors require more, we have years of experience and are confident that we will adequately assess your pet’s needs based on your unique situation.
Work with Us in Confidence!
Contact me today and I will get back to you with a questionnaire that will help to provide a thorough understanding of your dog’s current behavior.
Fill it out, email it back and I will contact you with either an intent to work with you or with a referral to local colleagues who are better suited to your particular needs and situation. I have an amazing network of experienced like-minded trainers who specialize in various areas and whom I refer business to on a regular basis, depending on location and problem.
